The Executive Chairman of Qua’an-Pan Local Government Area in Plateau State, Hon. Dr. Christopher Audu Manship, has banned the settlement of unauthorized Fulani individuals and groups migrating into the LGA without the consent of host communities and the leadership of Miyetti Allah.
The directive was announced on Wednesday, July 22, 2026, during a joint stakeholders’ meeting with traditional rulers and Miyetti Allah leaders at Felix Dakyap Guest House, Doemak.
Dr. Manship said the measure was aimed at safeguarding peace, security and community cohesion. He emphasized the need for unity and peaceful coexistence between indigenous and Fulani communities in Qua’an-Pan and warned that herders found grazing on farmlands would be held accountable in accordance with the law. He urged Fulani to restrict their activities to designated grazing fields and fallow areas.
The Chairman also charged the Fulani community not to harbor individuals seeking refuge in the LGA after involvement in criminality elsewhere.
The Long Pan and Chairman of the Qua’an-Pan Traditional Council of Chiefs, HRH Nda Miskagam Jerom Leklat, commended the move. He urged community leaders to intensify grassroots sensitization and report suspicious settlements to authorities, and assured the Council of the Traditional Council’s collaboration to strengthen vigilance.
Also speaking, the Chairman of Miyetti Allah in Qua’an-Pan, Alhaji Sai’du, pledged the association’s cooperation. He said Miyetti Allah will enhance internal coordination to ensure compliance and prevent the influx of persons with questionable backgrounds, noting that such would undermine peace in the LGA.
He also commended the Chairman for efforts that led to the rescue of Fulani from kidnappers.
