The Plateau Environmental Protection and Sanitation Agency (PEPSA) has commenced the service of final abatement notices to households in Jos South Local Government Area without functional toilet facilities.

The agency said the move follows sustained sensitisation, community engagements, advocacy and support provided to vulnerable households under the SURWASH Programme to encourage compliance with sanitation standards.

Affected households have been given seven days from the date of service to provide functional toilet facilities. PEPSA said prosecution will commence against households that remain non-compliant after the expiration of the notice period.

The agency urged all affected households to use the final seven-day period to comply, stressing that every household must have a functional toilet and compliance is no longer optional.
