In a bid to curb the problems of bandits and armed herdsmen Stealth-move attacks and threats on citizens of Plateau State, member representing Quanpan North in the Plateau State House of Assembly, Prof. Theodore Maiyaki has sponsored a bill to establish Community Early Warning System to address the menace.
The bill titled, “a bill to provide for a law to establish a Plateau State Community Early Warning System” passed second reading during plenary of the 10th Assembly on Tuesday at the Old Government House, the temporary sitting venue of the Assembly in Jos.
Lightbearernews reported that the lawmaker while giving reasons for the bill said the problem of bandits and armed herdsmen’s stealth moves, attacks, and threats, which have resulted in the wanton loss of lives and destruction of properties has made it necessary to establish Community Early Warning System in all rural and urban areas of the state capital and local government areas in Plateau State.
He said the Community Early Warning System which has 10 core components, when established shall aim at timely detection of stealth moves, kidnapping, threats, and attacks of bandits and armed herdsmen, including saving lives, protecting sources of livelihoods, properties and strengthening recovery from disasters and crises.
The agency when established shall be known as Plateau State Community Early Warning System Agency (PLACEWSA)
