The Management of Plateau State College of Health Technology, Pankshin has strongly refuted allegations of extortion during the recently concluded 2025/2026 screening exercise. The College described the claims as “baseless and misleading,” emphasizing that all financial transactions were conducted openly and officially with receipts duly issued.
According to the institution, the approved screening fee of ₦5,000 was properly sanctioned by Management after following due administrative procedures. This adjustment from the earlier ₦3,000 was necessitated by increased operational costs, including logistics, materials, and administrative support for the exercise. The decision was neither arbitrary nor sudden but the outcome of due consultation and official approval. Notices to that effect were duly displayed and circulated prior to the commencement of the exercise.
The College also noted that contrary to the misleading insinuation that applicants were taken by surprise, the College provided clear, timely, and adequate communication through its official noticeboards and designated information points. The narrative that applicants were unaware of the approved fee is, therefore, false, mischievous, and deliberately aimed at tarnishing the institution’s image.
The Acting Bursar of the institution, Mrs. Vivien Lubis, debunked the claims during an interview with our correspondent in her office on Monday October 6, 2025.
The Management reiterated its commitment to transparency, accountability, and fairness in all operations, urging the public to disregard the malicious publication.
