The Nigerian Union of Women Journalists (NAWOJ), Plateau State Chapter, led by its Chairperson, Mrs. Grace Akwe Gotip, paid a courtesy visit to the Plateau State Ministry of Information and Communication. The visit aimed to strengthen the capacity of both parties to support women and girls in the state.
During the visit,State NAWOJ Chairperson, Mrs. Gotip highlighted NAWOJ’s contributions to supporting women and girls, including serving as a voice for the voiceless, bridging gaps for abused women and fighting against gender-based violence and human trafficking. She sought support for exchange programs to address the plight of vulnerable women and girls.
The Honourable Commissioner for Information and Communication, Rt. Hon. Joyce Lohya Ramnap mni, congratulated the new NAWOJ EXCOS and expressed her administration’s commitment to collaborating with the organization. She acknowledged the good work NAWOJ is doing in dealing with issues of advocacy, women and children.
”I assure you of our collaboration for exchange programs and appreciate the Executive Governor of Plateau State, Barr Caleb Manasseh Mutfwang, for giving women the opportunity to occupy public offices,” Hon. Ramnap said. “We encourage NAWOJ to be active in public offices to amplify their voices.”
The visit marked a significant step towards strengthening the partnership between NAWOJ and the Plateau State Ministry of Information and Communication, with both parties committed to working together to empower women and girls in the state.
