The 2025 Pankshin–Kanke Annual Ngas All-Stars Peace and Unity Football Fiesta ended on an emotional note with the presentation of cash gifts to widows of deceased former members, reinforcing the tournament’s message of unity and compassion.
Held at the historic Central Field, Bet-Pankshin, the event attracted football veterans and community leaders, including the Director of Finance and Supplies, Jos South Local Government, Coach Lary Gowon, Coach Vincent Shemu, Jacob Manka Bako, and other stakeholders.
Presenting the support, Coach Lary Gowon, a former NPFL Match Commissioner, former Chairman of the Plateau State Women’s Football Association, and seasoned Coach, said the initiative was aimed at supporting families left behind by fallen members of the Ngas football family.
He explained that the annual competition serves as a reunion for Ngas sons who once played the game, while promoting peaceful coexistence, discouraging restiveness, and inspiring younger talents.
Describing the tournament as a beacon of unity, Gowon reaffirmed his commitment to using football to strengthen communal bonds and promote peace across the Ngas land.
Presenting the trophy to the Home Base All-Stars, who defeated the Diaspora All-Stars 1–0, Coach Vincent Shemu commended Gowon for sponsoring the competition and supporting bereaved families.
Special Guest of Honour, Pharmacist James Shwarpkaka, praised the consistency of the tournament, describing sports as a proven tool for unity and community development.
Speaking for the players, Rotgak Dewan thanked Coach Gowon for sustaining the competition and pledged continued support.
The All-Stars later paid a solidarity visit to their ailing colleague, Coach Celestine Gowon, in Kururuwa.
The fiesta ended with renewed hope, unity, and a strong reminder of football’s power to heal and unite communities.
