The Provost of the Plateau State College of Health Technology, Pankshin, Mr. Emmanuel Mahanan, has called on Nigerians to embrace peace, unity and collective responsibility irrespective of faith, tribe and political affiliation.
Mahanan made the call in his goodwill message to Nigerians on the occasion of the country’s 66th Independence Anniversary.
He said nation-building requires a shared sense of responsibility and renewed commitment to peaceful coexistence, urging citizens to reject violence, respect the rule of law, and remain committed to national development.
According to him, the Independence anniversary is an opportunity to reflect on the vision and sacrifices of those who laid the foundation for Nigeria’s independence, while appreciating God for sustaining the nation.
He noted that the significance of Independence goes beyond commemorating a historical event, as it reminds citizens to reflect on the nation’s journey and the need to strengthen unity, particularly in Plateau State.
“No meaningful development can take place without peace. Citizens must play their part by promoting tolerance, dialogue and mutual respect,” he stated.
The Provost added that as a health training institution, the College remains committed to training manpower that will serve all Nigerians without discrimination, noting that peaceful coexistence is fundamental to effective healthcare delivery.
He commended the Plateau State Governor, Barr. Caleb Mutfwang, for his commitment to good governance and urged citizens to support his administration to succeed.
“On behalf of the Governing Council, Management, staff, students and the entire College community, we join citizens of the State in felicitating with His Excellency, the Executive Governor of Plateau State, Barr. Caleb Mutfwang, his deputy, Her Excellency Ngo Josephine Piyo, the Speaker and members of the Plateau State House of Assembly, and all Nigerians on the occasion of Nigeria’s 66th Independence Anniversary celebration.
