A philanthropist, Chief Sule Idi Dafang has donated relief materials to the Internally Displaced Persons (IDPs) camp in Mushere Chiefdom of Bokkos Local Government Area of Plateau State.
It would be recalled that several communities, including Hok, Manjing, Dingag, Horop, and Maringif, were displaced by suspected Fulani Militia in Mushere Chiefdom, where several people lost their lives, and foodstuffs were looted by the assailants.
Chief Dafang was accompanied to the IDPs camp by Dr. James Gulash, Hon. Tajan Haruna, and Hon. Zaka Akulung.
Presenting the items to the IDPs, Chief Dafang explained that the intervention was his own little way of showing care and love to the people displaced by the armed herdsmen attacks in the area.
He said he was touched by the pains and sufferings being experienced by the displaced people.
Chief Dafang, who is also the Madakin Daffo district in Bokkos Local Government, regretted the level of dehumanizing conditions the victims have been subjected to.
The Madakin Daffo condemned in strong terms the way and manner people are being displaced due to insecurity and land grabbing, according to him, this act of terrorism and displacing people from their ancestral home should stop at all costs.
Chief Dafang, while consoling the victims, urged the Security and Government at all levels to intensify efforts in bringing the ugly situation under control.
Receiving the items on behalf of the Internally Displaced Persons, Rev. John Dakwan and Mrs. Frapmun Zachariah commended the donor Chief Sule Idi Dafang for the intervention, assuring that the food items and cash donated will be judiciously distributed to the affected persons.
They all described Chief Dafang as a progressive philanthropist whose love and concern for the people will restore hope for the victims, and called on other public-spirited individuals to emulate Chief Dafang’s gesture.
Items donated included bags of 100kg of maize and cash.
