The member representing Pankshin/Kanke/Kanam Federal Constituency, Rt. Hon. Yusuf Adamu Gagdi, has declared support for state policing and challenged the former Speaker of the Plateau State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Dewan D. Gabriel to a joint petition to the EFCC and ICPC for investigation.
Gagdi made this known today during a live radio programme “Viewpoint with Samson Omale” on RhythmFM Jos.
Speaking on state policing, he said recent changes in the legal framework informed his new position.
On insecurity, Gagdi took a hard stance against banditry.
“I don’t believe in taking bandits to court or rehabilitation. They should be executed at the point of contact. I know the government is afraid of human rights, but what about the human rights of the people being killed?” he said.
While reacting to the challenged threw months back by Dewan on projects, appointments and others as well challenge for Join radio session, the lawmaker opted for joint petition.
“Rather than challenging me to a radio debate, I challenge him to join me in submitting petitions to the EFCC and the ICPC for a thorough investigation of both of us.
Let the authorities investigate what was allocated to me for constituency projects and verify the projects I executed, including the roads I facilitated.
At the same time, let them investigate the allocations received by the Plateau State House of Assembly during the period Dewan served as Speaker. Financial dealings, salaries, projects, etc, alongside the House’s audited financial reports for that period,” Gagdi stated.
He added that the outcome would show who has been more transparent in public office.
“If he declines to sign or submit the petition, I will proceed to petition both the EFCC and the ICPC myself, requesting that both of us be investigated,” he concluded.
