Mikang Local Government Council has distributed motorcycles to all 18 elected councillors and four aides as part of efforts to improve grassroots service delivery and ease movement across the wards.
Our reporter gathered that the presentation took place on May 25, 2026, at the Mikang Local Government Council Secretariat in Tunkus.
Speaking during the presentation, the Executive Chairman of Mikang LGA, Hon. Dr. Benard Soepding Alkali, said the support would enable councillors to stay closer to their constituents, monitor projects effectively, and carry out their responsibilities without transportation difficulties.

The Chairman noted that the gesture reflects the council’s commitment to strengthening governance at the grassroots and supporting individuals contributing to the administration’s programs and activities.
Among the beneficiaries were the Director of Research, the Personal Assistant to the Chairman, and two other aides recognized for their dedication and support to the council.
Also speaking, Rt. Hon. Putdet Shepshal Maikalango, Leader of the Mikang Legislative Council, commended the initiative, describing it as a step that would enhance effective representation and improve response to the needs of communities across the local government area.
The event was attended by councillors, party stakeholders, aides, and supporters of the administration.
