The lawmaker representing Pankshin, Kanke, and Kanam Federal Constituency, Yusuf Gagdi, has sponsored a private member bill seeking the establishment of a Naval Training Command.

The bill, titled “A Bill for an Act to Establish the Naval Training Command for the Coordination, Standardization, and Management of Nigerian Navy Training Institutions, as well as other Maritime Training Institutions Collaborating with the Navy, and for Related Matters,” successfully passed its Second Reading on the floor of the House of Representatives of Nigeria.

Sharing the update on his official Facebook page, Gagdi described the development as a major step toward strengthening institutional capacity, improving training standards, and fostering better synergy within Nigeria’s maritime and naval education framework.

The proposed command is expected to coordinate and standardize training across institutions working with the Nigerian Navy.
