Governor Caleb Mutfwang has secured a landslide victory in the APC governorship primary election held across the 10 federal wards of Mikang Local Government Area, polling 7,386 votes against 102 votes recorded by his challenger, Cdr. Yilchini Jan Bida.

The result was officially declared by the Returning Officer for the Local Government, Mr. Festus Danladi Dakogol, at the collation centre at the Mikang Local Government Secretariat.

Our correspondent reports that the declaration ceremony was attended by key party leaders and dignitaries, including the APC Local Government Chairman, the Executive Chairman of Mikang Local Government, the State Commissioner for Women Affairs and Social Development, the former Speaker and Senior Adviser to the Governor on Legislative Matters, the Chairman of the Plateau State Civil Service Commission, heads of security agencies, and other stakeholders and party faithful.

Speaking shortly after the announcement, Local Government Chairman Hon. Dr. Benard Soepding Alkali described the governor’s victory as well-deserved and unsurprising. He cited Governor Mutfwang’s developmental strides across Mikang Local Government, including ongoing road construction projects, appointments of sons and daughters of Mikang into the Civil Service Commission, and other strategic opportunities provided under the administration.

According to him, the overwhelming support from party members reflects the people’s confidence in the governor’s leadership and their desire for the continuation of his administration under the APC platform.

Celebrations erupted across Mikang Local Government Area following the declaration, as party supporters and residents trooped out in jubilation.
