The Plateau State Internal Revenue Service (PSIRS) has commenced an enforcement operation targeting individuals and businesses that have failed to meet their tax and revenue obligations.

Officials of the agency were seen visiting business premises in parts of the state, sealing shops and commercial establishments belonging to alleged revenue defaulters as part of efforts to boost internally generated revenue (IGR) and ensure compliance with tax laws.

The enforcement exercise is expected to affect businesses that have consistently failed to pay statutory taxes, levies, and other government-approved charges despite previous notices and reminders.

PSIRS says the operation is aimed at promoting voluntary tax compliance, creating a fair business environment, and increasing revenue for the provision of public infrastructure and essential services across Plateau State.

Business owners have been urged to regularize their tax status and obtain valid payment receipts to avoid sanctions, while the agency maintains that the exercise will continue until all eligible taxpayers comply with their obligations.

We will continue to monitor the exercise and provide updates as more information becomes available.
