A young philanthropist and businessman, Timdi Nkat, has declared his intention to contest for the Mikang State Constituency seat in the Plateau State House of Assembly, promising leadership built on unity, fairness, and service to the people.
Speaking during his declaration, Timdi described Mikang as a community founded on unity among its diverse groups, stressing the need to protect that bond.
According to him, the unity that once defined Mikang is being threatened by growing divisions and self-interest, stressing that he is stepping forward to “reinforce the cord” that binds communities such as Tehl, Garkawa, Piapung, and Koenoem into one collective identity.
He expressed concern over what he called growing division and a leadership style that is increasingly disconnected from the people. According to him, the system has made it difficult for ordinary citizens with good ideas to contribute, while the needs of the people are often neglected.
Timdi also highlighted the economic challenges facing many residents, noting that leadership must focus on improving lives rather than personal gain. He pledged to make representation people-centred and ensure resources are used for the benefit of the community.
On youth development, he said more attention must be given to empowering young people through skills, opportunities, and support, adding that the future of Mikang depends on investing in its youths.
Over the years, Timdi has built a reputation for supporting his community through various philanthropic efforts, especially in the area of youth development and empowerment, using his personal resources to make impact.
Drawing from his background as a businessman and teacher, Timdi said he understands the importance of hard work and community support, assuring that his experience has prepared him for effective representation.
He called on the people of Mikang to support his vision, stressing that his ambition is a collective one aimed at building a better future for all. “This is not my ambition’s song; this is our chorus,” he said, urging residents to embrace a new direction anchored on what he described as “something better.”
With his declaration, Timdi is set to challenge the incumbent Speaker of the Plateau State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Naanlong Daniel a third term member, who is seeking another term in office.
