The Plateau Environmental Protection and Sanitation Agency (PEPSA) has announced that the routine Monthly General Sanitation Exercise will hold on Saturday, 30th May, 2026, across the state.
Residents are urged to participate by cleaning their surroundings and complying with all sanitation guidelines during the exercise. Movement will be restricted within the stipulated sanitation hours to allow for effective cleanup.
PEPSA said the exercise is part of efforts to sustain a cleaner and healthier environment. Communities have been called upon to complement and step down desiltation interventions already carried out by the agency in various parts of the state. Particular emphasis will be placed on clearing blocked drainages, waterways, and culverts to ensure free flow of water as the rainy season intensifies.
The agency noted that the collective effort is necessary to reduce the risk of flooding, environmental pollution, and related public health concerns.
PEPSA officials will conduct routine supervision and monitoring across communities during the exercise to ensure adherence to environmental sanitation standards.
“We appreciate the continued understanding, cooperation, and support of residents as we work together to keep Plateau State clean, safe, and environmentally sustainable,” said Samuel Nathaniel Dapiya, Director General of PEPSA.
Residents are advised to plan their movements accordingly and adhere to directives from sanitation officials on the day.
